Janet is
a 5th generation North Floridian, she was born and
raised on the Westside in Jacksonville, Florida
and now lives in Fernandina Beach with her husband
Doug and their two children ( Emily and
Douglas). Janet graduated valedictorian from
Trinity Christian Academy and received a
scholarship that enabled her
to attend FCCJ and then the University of North
Florida. She received her bachelor’s degree in Information
Science and then at the age of 24
earned her Masters in Business Administration from the University of North Florida. Janet
believes in the power of education and the
transforming influence a good education can have
in the life of a single person. She has repeated
said to everyone she meets "Education is the one
gift we can give our children that no one can ever
take away."
Janet’s passion for education was a part of her
professional career development while she worked for a
leading information technology company based in
Jacksonville, Information Systems of Florida. She
worked hard and rose through the ranks to become a
Client Partner. She became involved in many
leadership development programs some of which
included the Covey Leadership Institute.
After she moved to Nassau County, Janet’s
passion for education did not stop. She decided to
seek a seat on the Nassau County School Board. She
was elected as the representative from Fernandina
Beach in 1998 and has won repeated elections to her
seat based on her view that she is there to
listen and lead. She has worked hard to ensure that the people not
present or who are the taxpayers and families have
a clear, intelligent voice on the local school
board.
Now Janet is working hard to carry her mission as
a fiscal conservative and passion for education to
Tallahassee. In 2008 State Representative Aaron
Bean will be unable to seek re-election due to
term limits. Janet has a proven conservative
voting record that is focused on families and
taxpayers. Janet is committed to reducing the
burden of needless rules, out of control spending
and getting state priorities in line with the
needs of its citizens.
